In fact, last year was a very good year for animated films.<br /><br />As for the Oscars making serious oversights, I can think of three off the top of my head: "How Green Was My Valley" winning Best Picture instead of "Citizen Kane" in 1942, "American Beauty" over "The Matrix" or several other movies in 2000 ("The Matrix" wasn't even nominated), and "Birdman" over "Boyhood" and "Selma" in 2015.
