Once I did, I agreed with you that Ezra Klein is a lucky dog. WOOF!

The NYT is absolutely right about Michael Bay. He's all about the BOOM! My wife and I are watching "The Last Ship." When I heard it was a Michael Bay show, I knew to expect a lot of action and things being blown up. I have not disappointed.Pinku-Senseihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16247618351725715844noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8752611264465083204.post-88908025283383740272014-07-09T20:01:47.727-04:002014-07-09T20:01:47.727-04:00If Ezra Klein is reading my blog, then why aren...If Ezra Klein is reading my blog, then why aren't a media celebrity living in Manhattan making six figures (and married to Annie Lowery). It's not fair I tell you!

I haven't seen the film and probably won't, but this is one where the reviews are the best thing about the film. The New York Times' one is priceless:

...Although they may look like soulless corporate studio product, they are really examples of personal cinema, expressions of the will and imagination of their director, Michael Bay. The narrative incoherence is a feature, not a bug. Mr. Bay’s strongest films are those in which the battle between sense and sensation ends in a rout. If you spend any time thinking about why the C.I.A. and an Apple-like technology corporation would be in cahoots with an intergalactic bounty hunter in an anti-Autobot pogrom you are missing the point.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/27/movies/transformers-age-of-extinction-is-fourth-in-the-series.html

What is Transformers: Age of Extinction about?

Nothing. It's about nothing.

But it's three hours long. How can it be about nothing?

Because Michael Bay has somehow perfected his technique of turning a major summer action movie blockbuster into a high school graduation. It's three long hours of things happening that you don't care about. Oh, sure, eventually the person you're there to see will be called to the stage (likely this student's name is Grimlock) and you'll be excited to see him get his moment of recognition, and then the rest of these goddamn kids you don't know or care about have to get their diploma too. Even though Transformers 4 has less of certain problems that have plagued the live-action franchise, watching it is an obligation, a joyless, interminable slog where all you do is wait for Grimlock to get his diploma, metaphorically speaking, and go home and have a beer.

http://io9.com/transformers-age-of-extinction-the-spoiler-faq-1598579492escapefromwisconsinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02369565788469048090noreply@blogger.com
