Tales of two trailers

For this week's entertainment entry, I present two trailers, both of movies that are revivals of science fiction franchises, Star Wars and Jurassic Park.

First, STAR WARS: EPISODE 7 - THE FORCE AWAKENS - Official Teaser Trailer #1 (2015) [HD].

Next, JURASSIC WORLD Trailer #1 (2015) Chris Pratt Sci-Fi Movie HD.

Follow over the jump for links to reactions from Vox, io9 and Jalopnik, Irish Examiner, and one big name fan.

Based on the sheer number of articles, the Star Wars trailer got a much bigger reaction.  Here are some links.

Vox: Star Wars: The Force Awakens has a trailer and a new lightsaber
Vox: 5 questions you might have about the new Star Wars trailer
io9: A Shot-For-Shot Dissection Of All The Clues In The Star Wars Trailer
Jalopnik: Let's Take A Deep Look At The Droid In The New Star Wars Trailer

I left two comments in response to the questions about the narrator's voice.  My initial reaction was "Over at io9, there was some debate on the voice, and the answer that came out as most likely was that it was Andy Serkis.  Imagine Gollum an octave down trying to imitate Yoda."  I had second thoughts. "After listening again to the video and comparing it to Max Von Sydow's voice, I now think it's more likely that it's Von Sydow than Sirkis.  Having Von Sydow as a crafty old villain in the mold of Dooku and Palpatine  would make sense."

In contrast, I only found two links about "Jurassic World."

Irish Examiner: 16 thoughts we had while watching the Jurassic World trailer

Beyond what the two articles pointed out, I had two reactions to the trailer.  First, I was hoping that the raptors would be feathers.  Who knows, maybe they are and the scene is so dark that it doesn't show it.  Next, I've seen that mosasaur/pliosaur attack before, in Walking with Dinosaurs.

Nothing like paying homage to a great scene.

That's it for this month.  Stay tuned for a new Nablopomo theme and a post about this weekend's oil news.  The gas price rollercoaster is set for another drop.
