'Desi Lydic Foxsplains Trump's Big Beautiful Ballroom' plus the short form nominees at the Emmy Awards

I told my readers to "stay tuned for coverage of the Emmy Awards...nominees," so I'm following through with one of the nominees, Desi Lydic Foxsplains Trump's Big Beautiful Ballroom | The Daily Show.

Desi Lydic Foxsplains why Donald Trump's golden palace of dance is great for all Americans... even if they can't actually see, touch, or use it.
On the one hand, HAHAHAHA! On the other, I'm recycling what I wrote in Meyers, 'The Daily Show,' Kimmel, and the Marsh Family take closer looks at the royal visit.
I'm repeating what I wrote yesterday.
Donald "Hoover Harding Cleveland" Trump doubling down on his ballroom and going after Kimmel and James Comey is just him pursuing his pet projects. It's also an example of "never let a good crisis go to waste." It's just a shame that the projects being pursued are so petty.
Even more of a shame that he's getting so many to go along with him, including shifting its funding from private donors to the taxpayers. Ugh.
That's not the most recent video in the Desi Lydic Foxsplains playlist. Desi Lydic on How "Foxsplains" Came to Be - After the Cut | The Daily Show is.

Desi Lydic describes how her Emmy-winning Foxsplains segment was born out of necessity during the early days of the Covid pandemic[.]
"I'm not either." I second that emotion!

Follow over the jump for the short form nominees.

Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama, or Variety Series
  • Bad Thoughts (Netflix)
  • Colbert before Air (YouTube)
  • The Daily Show: Desi Lydic Foxsplains (YouTube)
  • The Randy Rainbow Show (YouTube)
  • SubwayTakes (YouTube)
Gold Derby doesn't include the short form nominees in its prediction page, so I'm on my own. That written, only two nominees have a second nomination, The Daily Show: Desi Lydic Foxsplains and The Randy Rainbow Show, so they're the co-favorites with the tiebreaker going to Lydic because she and her show are returning winners. That written, I'm glad both Randy Rainbow and Stephen Colbert have returned as Emmy nominees. Both were snubbed in 2023, which made me grumpy.
I'm going to whine about two of my favorite previous nominees being snubbed this year, The Randy Rainbow Show and Stephen Colbert Presents Tooning Out the News. I finally get on board the Randy Rainbow train and it's not going to the Emmys. Poop. Not having both means that laughing at politics and government has diminished to almost nothing in the short form categories.
No such problem this year! Welcome back to the Emmys, Randy!

Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series
  • Hacks: Bit by Bit (HBO Max)
  • Inside the Pitt (HBO Max)
  • Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette – A Love Untold (FX / Hulu)
  • Shrinking – In It Together (Apple TV)
  • This Is a Gardening Show (Netflix)
Hacks: Bit by Bit is the sole returning nominee, but I think Inside the Pitt is more likely to win, if only because it's mounting an awards campaign along with This Is a Gardening Show.

Outstanding Performer in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series
  • Kim Estes – Big Law as Boyd Bennett (Vimeo)
  • Desi Lydic – The Daily Show: Desi Lydic Foxsplains as Herself (YouTube)
  • Randy Rainbow – The Randy Rainbow Show as Himself (YouTube)
I think Randy does more as he sings, dances, and acts, but Desi might do her schtick a bit better. Besides, she is the returning winner, which makes her the favorite.

That's a wrap for today. Stay tuned for Bastille Day.
