A blog about societal, cultural, and civilizational collapse, and how to stave it off or survive it. Named after the legendary character "Crazy Eddie" in Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle's "The Mote in God's Eye." Expect news and views about culture, politics, economics, technology, and science fiction.
I will see a competent psychiatrist and get cured of all extremely unusual phobias and bizarre compulsive habits which could prove to be a disadvantage.
Randy added Pervert Hoover's mental and physical decline to the list. I've stayed away from those, as I've only used the word senile once on this blog, and that was quoting Seth Meyers in 2020: "Seth takes a closer look at Trump trying to paint Biden as drugged up and senile while attempting to steal the election by lying about voter fraud." In retrospect, that strikes me as projection on Pervert Hoover's part. I once wrote about him that "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones," but that has never stopped him.
That written, it will take a lot for the age-related part of Pervert Hoover's condition to gain enough traction to make a difference. That's what Steve M. at No More Mister Nice Blog thinks, too. In May, he asked HOW BAD IS TRUMP'S HEALTH?
I'll believe he's really losing it when he launches into one of these attacks and freezes up, unable to summon up the next nasty word he wants to say. I look forward to that the day, the day he tries to slip the verbal shiv in but can't manage to do it. I hope it happens.
Maybe he's experiencing some form of dementia. But for now, his words, even when they're incoherent, have power. And that's primarily why he's not judged the way Biden was, even though he's probably in terrible physical health, and he knows it.
Pervert Hoover isn't there yet and I'm not holding my breath waiting for it to happen. Too bad.
Watching Randy promote Ground News reminds me that I should still compose a comparison and contrast between Ground News on the one hand and the Media Bias Chart and Allsides on the other. Not today. In the meantime, stay tuned for posts to celebrate the holiday weekend.
The tongue-twisting I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General, performed live during Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance, directed by Mike Leigh at English National Opera.
Andrew Shore plays Major General-Stanley, with Joshua Bloom as Pirate King and Claudia Boyle as Mabel in this ENO production by film director Mike Leigh.
About The Pirates of Penzance:
With sentimental pirates, blundering policeman, absurd adventures and improbable paradoxes, The Pirates of Penzance is Gilbert and Sullivan's most popular comic opera.
A swashbuckling farce of brilliant humour and razor-sharp wit, it's chock-full of memorable melodies, including the famous tongue-twisting patter song from the Major-General.
This production was directed by directed by BAFTA-award winner Mike Leigh, who makes his operatic debut.
Randy could have been more pompous, but he has Pervert Hoover for that.
Randy isn't the only one revisiting the past. My readers gave enough page views to three posts from the 2016 election that they joined the most read entries of the 15th year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News. Follow over the jump for their stories.

The Democrats in Congress are probably doing everything they can think of. It's just that they seem so unimaginative and are so uninspiring. Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries may be good leaders of their caucuses, but they leave activists and rank-and-file Democrats cold. We could use leaders that make us feel like they're doing something, even if it would be merely therapeutic. That would be helpful; I think a lot of us need therapy while watching Hoover Harding Cleveland and his administration doing his will with the support of the Republicans in Congress!
"A woman whose initials, when spoken aloud, not only describe her mind but her body and soul." *Snork* She hasn't changed these past nine years, inside and out.
That interview needed a song, which Randy provided his second time around with her in Just BE BEST!
THE RANDY RAINBOW SHOW: "Just Be Best!"
Randy has changed; he didn't include that this a parody of "Be Our Guest" in the video description, although maybe he didn't need to; it's exactly what I expected.
That's a wrap for today and the month of February. Stay tuned for highlights of tonight's Saturday Night Live as tomorrow's Sunday entertainment feature to begin March's blogging. SNL has lots of news to laugh at so we and they don't cry.
Here’s a weeknight speedy turnaround musical parody (missing Tess and Alfie cos unavailable) on the UK fallout linked to the Epstein files, and specifically the former US Ambassador and British Lord, Peter Mandelson’s friendship with Epstein, and the bigger implications of his omissions and appointment rippling through Westminster. Naturally we picked a song from a movie about proteges, covert relationships, virtues and vices, which is another toe-tapping Paul Simon favourite, “Mrs Robinson” – recorded with Art Garfunkel in 1968. The song became the duo’s second number one, and the first rock song to win the Grammy award for Record of the Year. Apparently when the melody was first written there was no name in it, so it could be suited to any three syllable name – which helps explain why Mandelson seemed to fit so well.

A “SPAD” is a special adviser to UK politicians (usually a high-level civil servant) – and two resigned in the last day or so who were central to Starmer’s government operation.
The British government seems to be facing consequences faster than the American government. I wonder why that is?
That's a wrap for today. Stay tuned as I plan on examining horror movie nominees for Friday the 13th. Frankenstein!
I told my readers to "Stay tuned for comedy" today and do I have comedy for them! Randy Rainbow uploaded RFK! A Randy Rainbow Song Parody yesterday, so sing along with Randy!
Parody of “Cabaret” (Music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb)
Parody of Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” (Music/Lyrics by Kayleigh Amstutz & Daniel Nigro)
"Democracy doesn't answer to delusion" — remember, one of my catchphrases is that the voices in Donald "Hoover Cleveland" Trump's head are not reliable sources. Neither are the real people advising him. Also, "I miss America," too.
Chappell Roan performs “Pink Pony Club” live at the 2025 GRAMMYs
Just like Fees, Fees, Fees, Randy could have gone darker by sticking closer to the original. In particular, "God, what have you done" expresses my sentiments just as well as "God, shut the fvck up!"
Randy's plug of Ground News reminds me of what I wrote in Future Proof examines 'The RISE and FALL of Malls in America,' a tale of the Retail Apocalypse, "the paid promotion by Ground News reminds me that I promised a comparison and contrast between AllSides and the Media Bias Chart three years ago." I still haven't done that, but it really is time. Maybe when I make my monthly page view goal and write evergreen entries near the end of the month.
That would make a good post to share next month. Stay tuned to see if I actually write it.
That's a wrap for today. Now for a string of holidays beginning with WorldKindnessDay tomorrow. I love holidays!
I know I wrote, "I plan on posting something brief, evergreen, and educational" today. That was before I saw Randy Rainbow singing He Just Can't Wait to Be King! At least it's brief and evergreen and I suppose his pitching Ground News is educational. If not, at least it's entertaining!
Parody of “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” (Music by Elton John, Lyrics by Tim Rice)

Defunding the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is a lousy thing to do; Elmo and Big Bird are too nice to complain about it, but I'm not! (From an idea by, and featuring, Joyce Jacobson; fair use parody of "Sesame Street" theme by Joe Raposo)
Parody of “That’s Entertainment!” (Music by Arthur Schwartz, Lyrics by Howard Dietz)
Of course, the people that have actual Trump Derangement Syndrome are his followers, but somehow saying "I know you are but what am I" to them doesn't work. Sigh. In the meantime, we have Randy to reassure us that we're not crazy, the world is.
Here’s a song about #Signalgate – the flamboyant US security breach – adapted from one of our all-time favourite Bee Gees tracks, titled “You Were Not Supposed to Message it Through!” A quick parody turnaround, but only five of us singing as Alfie (actually our hands-down best fake Bee Gee) is currently away, and will be annoyed. One day we’ll have a proper go with instruments live, but for now this will have to suffice as a post-work / post-school knockup.
The fantastic original, "Gotta Get a Message to You", with its uplifting modulations and incredible layered harmonies, was released in 1968 and got to number one in the UK and the top ten in the US. Apparently it’s actually about someone on death row, though we never realised this until today. Nor that there are some other lower harmonies in later verses that are a bit raspy, which we had fun with.
Looking forward to the promised remake, if not more from Kegseth.

Seriously, that supposed ideological diversity probably comes from former Democrats Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr., who I called cases of failing upwards. I thought I was done with both of them when they dropped out of the 2020 and 2024 Presidential contests, respectively. Instead, I could be writing about them for the next four years. Ugh. At least my readers and I have Randy and others to keep us sane. May Gabbard and RFK Jr. be like Ben Carson AKA Doctor Pyramid, about whom I ended up writing "At least you were too boring to write about for the past four [years]" after Carson's service as HUD Secretary. May we be so lucky with Gabbard and RFK Jr.

As for all the garbage references, those came out of Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden. That deserves a post of its own, but I don't know if I will have time before Tuesday. I'll dispense with it for now by remarking that the one in 1939 was enough.
All proceeds from this song will be donated to Clark County SPCA in Springfield, Ohio.
My wife and I were already fans of The Kiffness for his musical remixes of pet sounds (no relation to The Beach Boys album), but we really loved this video. So did nearly ten million other people, as the video now has 9,916,667 views. Wow!
Dancing Queen, the magnificent pop anthem by ABBA, was written by the usual team of Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson, and released in the (then) very hot summer of 1976. The original song is built around the ‘wall of sound’ concept with ridiculous numbers of layers, flourishes, instrumentation, and packed with harmonies and grooves. But we decided to try it with just two guitars, drums, and three voices on the hottest day of the year so far. Hopefully it turned out recognisable and a little bit distinctive – the girls doing a great job with harmonies and some moves! It is a profoundly European dance track that brings people together, a consistent winner, true to the vibe, and (ridiculously) it turned out to be ABBA’s only number one hit in the USA.
We chose for the parody subject matter the official approval at the convention this week of JD Vance as Donald Trump’s running mate for the presidential ticket for the Republican Party. It’s probably fair to say that Vance is very little known on this side of the pond – hence the need for some additional info and graphics on this video – but he made an ill-advised splash in our world by mouthing off about the UK, pretending a concern about nuclear proliferation (when for a long time he’s been helping facilitate Putin’s aggression) and half-jokingly describing the UK as an “Islamist country”. This prompted politicians from across the spectrum to condemn his comments – on which you can find details here: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk....
So since he dished it out, and since - for obvious (but different) reasons - now is not an appropriate moment for a song about either Trump or Biden, here’s our less-than-impressed profile of yet another populist politician with highly flexible morality, worrying contempt for democratic process and discourse, but big funding and a big mouth who’s happy to tap into ordinary people’s fears while claiming to be an example of their dreams.
Behold the power of the YouTube algorithm!
That's a wrap for today. Stay tuned to see what I blog about tomorrow!
Randy Rainbow hasn't posted a song since Look At Me, I'm MTG!* That was more than two months ago, and a lot has happened since then, so it was time he uploaded The Lawyer or the Conman.
Parody of “The Farmer and the Cowman” from Oklahoma! (Music by Richard Rodgers & Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II)
Randy made a deep cut into the musical theater repertoire for this parody. It's a great song that worked well to contrast Harris with convictedcriminalHoover Cleveland, but I'd never heard it before.
This isn't the first time Randy sang about Kamala Harris. That honor goes to KAMALA!
