Local news covers the marching bands in the 2025 Macy's Parade

As I wrote yesterday, I'm breaking this year's edition of Local news coverage of marching bands in the 2024 Macy's Parade for Thanksgiving into two parts. Part one was WMUR covers the Spartans in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Part two consists of the marching bands, beginning with Fox 5 New York reporting Alcorn State University’s Sounds of Dynomite: Marching band in Thanksgiving Day Parade.

FOX 5 NY's Kendall Green speaks with some members of Alcorn State University’s marching band "Sounds of Dynomite."
Yes, I'm sharing the bands in alphabetical order as listed on Macy's website with the last two swapped for a narrative. I'm glad it resulted in an HBCU band first. Also, I'm glad I got a non-NBC affiliate because of what I wrote last year.
By the way, notice how many of these segments are from local NBC affiliates. As I first wrote in CNN defends Big Bird after Ted Cruz calls one of the character's tweets 'Propaganda,' a pandemic update, "my readers should keep that relationship in mind when watching the clip above. It's not just news value that's driving it."
In this case, it is news value.

Follow over the jump for the rest of the bands in tomorrow's parade.

Next in alphabetical order is WCNC reporting Catawba Ridge HS in Macy’s Parade.

The Catawba Ridge High School Marching Band will make some noise at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
That's a better preview of the parade as a whole than a segment about the band performing, but I'll take it. I'm saying the same about WKYCChannel3's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade rehearsal, which doesn't mention the Damien Spartan Regiment, but it does show the band in the preview image.

Music stars, the best of Broadway and marching bands are preparing for the 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! Via: WNBC
Look for this footage to appear in another band's video.

I found a foreign news report for Banda de Música La Primavera - Reportaje de Sertv Camino al Macy's 2025, which the band is hosting on its own YouTube channel.

This band should look familiar because it's one of the Marching bands from around the world in the 2023 Rose Parade for New Year's Day. They still have the "Turning the Corner" bass drum heads from marching in the Rose Parade two years ago.

Back to the U.S., as KERA reported L.D. Bell High School’s band is headed to the Macy’s Parade this Thanksgiving.

L.D. Bell High School’s band gets ready to head to New York to participate in the Macy’s Parade this Thanksgiving.
I couldn't resist a PBS affiliate's report. It's definitely news value that's driving this!

The video I selected for Macy’s Great American Marching Band was NBC 7 San Diego reporting Poway teens to perform in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is celebrating its 99th year. If you watch, you might be able to spot two local high schoolers amid all the fanfare. NBC 7’s Joe Little explains.
That was sweet and made me want to watch the parade even more. Also, I didn't know that members of the Macy’s Great American Marching Band could march more than one year. Now I do.

I couldn't find any local news coverage of the New York City Police Department Marching Band and the clips I found on YouTube didn't impress me, so I'm sharing my own short, #dinomitetwins on #Twitch | NYPD Band in 2025 Tartan Day Parade 4/5/2025.

Thanks to watching Ali and Lexi, the Dinomite Twins on Twitch, I have more clips of the NYPD Marching Band on my YouTube channel. I expect to get another tomorrow, which I will upload to my YouTube channel.

12 News reported NAU Marching Band prepares for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Northern Arizona University Marching Band prepares for its performance at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
They look like they're having fun.

As I mentioned above, I'm placing WHNT News 19 reporting UNA Band to Perform in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade | Nov. 24, 2025 | News 19 at 6 p.m. out of alphabetical order, which my readers will understand when they watch the band that would have been here.

Part of North Alabama is in the Big Apple right now for an exciting opportunity.
This looks like it's the best preview of the band's show in front of the flagship Macy's on NBC. I won't see it live tomorrow, since the local NBC affiliate shows the Detroit Thanksgiving parade instead and the Dinomite Twins, whose Twitch feed I will be watching, will be up the parade route, but I'm anticipating seeing an upload of it and the rest of the red carpet performances on YouTube soon.

I close with the final band in NBC 10 Philadelphia reporting Temple marching band to bring Philly flare to Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

NBC10’s Tim Furlong was on hand for the Temple University’s marching band final rehearsal before heading to the Big Apple for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Now, here's the Temple University band performing in Al Roker Breaks Down Thanksgiving Day Parade by the Numbers, which makes for both a great encore and a lead-in to the parade itself.

The countdown is on for the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! TODAY’s Al Roker shares a look at what it takes to bring the parade to life and is then joined by Temple University's Diamond Marching Band!
Watching the Temple band perform on the TODAY set this morning reminds me that they performed in The Wolf of Wall Street. This isn't the first time they've marched and played on camera in a workplace!

That's a wrap for today's musical entertainment entry. Stay tuned as I continue going full holiday for the rest of the week.
