Time to return to the Deadline report that the Saturn Awards excerpted.
On the TV side, Amazon MGM Studios’ video game adaptation Fallout was tops with five nominations: Best Science Fiction Television Series, Best Actor on Television (Walton Goggins), Best Actress on Television (Ella Purnell) and Best Guest Star on Television (Kyle MacLachlan). Amazon MGM had a leading 17 TV noms among the studios, while Disney was second with 11.Here are Fallout's nominations.
Best Science Fiction Television Series:Deadline already listed four of Fallout's five nominations, the fifth being Aaron Moten for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series. It's followed by two nominations each for Dark Matter and Ahsoka, and one each for 3 Body Problem, The Ark, and Star Trek: Discovery. My personal favorite is 3 Body Problem, which I definitely thought was the best science fiction on television this year — sorry, Fallout, Star Trek, and Star Wars — but I'm sure Fallout will win.
3 Body Problem
The Ark
Dark Matter
Fallout
Star Trek: Discovery
Star Wars: Ahsoka
Now for a category I covered in 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' 'Agatha All Along,' 'The Penguin,' and 'X-Men '97' — superheroes at the Saturn Awards plus more 'Star Trek' vs. 'Star Wars' at the Saturn Awards.
I may be voting for X-Men '97, but I still have Star Wars: The Bad Batch penciled in to continue the streak of Star Wars television animation winning this category.Best Animated Television Series or Special:Both Batman: Caped Crusader and X-Men '97 earned Critics' Choice Award nominations for Best Animated Series, but X-Men '97 earned an Emmy nomination and won a Gold Derby TV Award, so I think it has an advantage in this field, although Star Wars: The Bad Batch is the defending winner. I'll get to its chances, along with the TV acting nominations, when I cover science fiction TV nominees.
Batman: Caped Crusader
Gremlins: The Wild Batch
Kaiju No. 8
Star Trek: Lower Decks
Star Wars: The Bad Batch
X-Men '97
Follow over the jump for Fallout's acting nominations.
Best Actor in a Television Series:Jon Hamm may be the professional choice, Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus the fan choices who are likely to divide The Walking Dead fandom, and Colin Farrell a compromise between the two, but I'm voting for From's Harold Perrineau.
Colin Farrell (The Penguin)
Walton Goggins (Fallout)
Jon Hamm (Fargo)
Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live)
Harold Perrineau (From)
Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon)
Kurt Russell & Wyatt Russell (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters)
Best Actress in a Television Series:I foreshadowed my vote in 'Ripley' wins most Creative Arts Emmy Awards for limited series, but 'Baby Reindeer' favored to win five Primetime Emmys: "Foster already earned a Saturn Award while True Detective: Night Country was airing and she will almost certainly be on the ballot again for her performance." She is, and I'm voting for her. I expect she'll win.
Emma D'Arcy (House of the Dragon)
Rosario Dawson (Ashoka)
Jodie Foster (True Detective: Night Country)
Dana Gurira (The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live)
Kathryn Hahn (Agatha All Along)
Melissa McBride (The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon)
Ella Purnell (Fallout)
Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series:I expect Antony Starr will win for The Boys, but I'm going to vote for Emmy winner Lamorne Morris.
Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows)
Brandon Scott Jones (Ghosts)
Lamorne Morris (Fargo)
Aaron Moten (Fallout)
Matt Smith (House of the Dragon)
Antony Starr (The Boys)
Henry Thomas (The Fall of the House of Usher)
Best Guest Star in a Television Series:I think it's between Aubrey Plaza and Ke Huy Quan, but I'm voting for Andrea Martin from Evil.
Mark Hamill (The Fall of the House of Usher)
Matthew Jeffers (The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Lived)
Martin Kove (Cobra Kai)
Kyle MacLachlan (Fallout)
Andrea Martin (Evil)
Aubrey Plaza (Agatha All Along)
Ke Huy Quan (Loki)
Best Television Home Media Release:I have no idea who will win, but right now I'm voting for Andor.
Columbo: The Return (KL Studio Classics)
Farscape: The Complete Series (25th Anniversary Edition (Shout)
Interview with the Vampire (Season 2) (RLJ Entertainment)
La Brea: The Complete Series (Universal)
Star Wars: Andor – The Complete First Season (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment)
