Popular entries from the back catalog for the fourth year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News

It's time to finish this series.

I concluded Reactionary movements for the fourth year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News with the promise of one more post.
That completes this look back at the 20 most read entries of the past blogging year.  Stay tuned for the final installment about posts from the back catalog that made big moves on the leaderboard last year after a celebration of Earth Day.
That echoes how I concluded the retrospective series of the previous year's entries in Social media for the second and third year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News.
That's all for the entries from the the third year of the blog for this year.  Maybe next year I'll describe how one or more broke out of the pack to get into the top ten list, but that's next year's problem.
Let's see if I can tackle both in this entry.

The most read entry for the history of the blog according to the default counter as of March 21, 2015 and still the current number one is Eye spy the gas price rollercoaster about to coast down like a parachute, posted on September 2, 2012 with 1988 page views, which it still has now.  The post currently has 2916 according to the raw counter.  This entry was not among the top 20 for the second year of the blog on March 20, 2013, and not among the default top ten as of March 20, 2014.  It began its rise during the second half of 2014, when gas prices began their long, deep slide from $3.50 to just under $2.00 and a lot of web searches retrieved it as one of the results.  The entry was in the monthly top ten for six months running during that time period, enough to move it from not on the list to the top of the leader board.  Amazing how a change in economic conditions can revive the fortunes of an old post.

Follow over the jump for more revenge of the back catalog.

In third place on the default top ten behind James Robertson ABC's Person of the Week, the Top post for the fourth year is Examiner.com article on tax policy forum posted September 17, 2012 with 1172 page views.  It currently has 2005 page views according to the raw counter.  Unlike the current number one, it began its climb early, as described in Second Year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News: Examiner.com.
Two other articles promoting my writing at Examiner.com make the 20 most viewed of the second year of the blog according to the secondary counter, Examiner.com article on Free Press endorsements posted October 14, 2012, with 261 views, good for 13th place, and Examiner.com article on tax policy forum, posted September 17, 2012 with 211 views, enough for 18th place.
That was in March 2013.  By March 2014, it had climbed even higher as I described in Popular retrospectives for the second and third year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News.
The entry about Examiner.com that made a move last year was Examiner.com article on tax policy forum, posted September 17, 2012.  As of March 21, 2013, it had 211 views according to the secondary counter, enough for 18th place among all entries posted that year.  Since then, it began a steady rise into the top ten all-time, knocking off first Austerity on the personal level from the AP, which itself kicked out Old man yelling at chair accidentally reveals a deeper truth.  It then engaged in a dogfight with U.S.-China EcoPartnerships: The CoDominion plans for sustainability.  By March 21st, it looked like it had lost, earning at most 402 page views according to the primary counter (I didn't check the secondary counter, so those numbers were never recorded), falling out of the top ten for good.  The story is not over; today it's back in the all-time top ten with 926 according to the secondary counter and 442 according to the primary counter.  As for what's driving it this year, I think the sites Google Correction, JustforLaughs.tv, and Vampire Stat bear at least some responsiblity.  Those were the ones I saw on the referring links list when the entry became popular again last October and November.
That's one entry that has been a tortoise over three year, beating out a bunch of hares!

The top post according to the default counter at this time last year, Floods in Colorado from ABC News and University of Colorado has fallen to fourth place on the top ten.  Then, it had 1135 page views according to the default counter and 1201 according to the raw counter.  Now, it still has 1135 page views according to the default counter, but 1211 according to the raw counter.  With that lack of interest over the past year, it's no wonder it has fallen down the rankings.

The fifth place entry on the top ten as of March 20, 2015 was Happy 4th of July from James Howard Kunstler's Tea Party!  It had 879 page views according to the default counter then and 1461 according to the raw counter.  That's not much more than what it had on March 20, 2013, when it also had 879 page views according to the default counter and 1088 according to the raw counter enough for first place two years ago.   That continued interest is not translating into a higher placement.  In fact, it's fallen since March to sixth place.

The sixth and seventh place entries as of March 20, 2015, were Dungeons and Dragons alignments for Game of Thrones characters with 852 page views according to the default counter and 2091 according to the raw counter and Examiner.com article on Michigan Supreme Court nominees with 833 page views according to the default counter and 1942 according to the raw counter.  The former has seen better days, as it was in second place overall according to the default counter in March 2013 with 867 page views and first according to the raw counter with 1338 page views, as well as being the top post of the second year.  Not only has it lost page views according to the default counter while the raw one shows it gaining, it's dropped a notch to seventh place.  As for the latter, it's ended up treading water on the rankings despite gaining page views from two years ago, as Second Year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News: Examiner.com described.
The third most viewed entry of the second year of this blog and eighth most viewed overall according to the primary counter is Examiner.com article on Michigan Supreme Court nominees posted on September 12, 2012. The primary counter shows it has 372 page views. The secondary counter lists it as having even more, 814.* Based on the alternative method, this entry would be the second most viewed of last year, not the third.
It's now back in eighth place, which means that it's run like the Red Queen, as fast as possible just to keep from losing ground.

The eighth place entry as of March 20th, as reported in Student worksheets for the fourth year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News, has been going places.
The most read of all the posts about student worksheets from the past year was Corn questions from 'Food, Inc.' worksheet posted on October 18, 2014.  I had 1245 page views according to the raw counter as of the end of March 20, 2015, and 822 page views according to the default counter.  Those were enough for third place according to the raw counter and second place according to the default counter, which puts the entry in eighth place for the entire history of the blog so far.
The post is now in fifth place with 1088 page views according to the default counter and 1781 according to the raw counter.  It's climbing the charts with a bullet by its name.

The ninth and tenth place entries as of March 20th have both fallen off the leader board since then.  Two months ago, the ninth place entry was A conversation with The Archdruid about Objectivism, Satanism, and the GOP with 716 page views according to the default counter and ~1090 according to the raw counter.  It was the fifth place entry a year ago with 638 page views according to the default counter and 693 page views according to the raw counter.  It rose to 723 page views according to the default counter and 1100 according to the raw counter earlier this month before being knocked out of the top ten by Game of Thrones D&D character alignment charts, which finally earned its place on the leader board, where it is currently ninth.

The tenth place entry two months ago was First post: Why this blog?  When Guide to entries that contain answers to 'The End of Suburbia' pushed it off the leader board last month, it had 714 page views according to the default counter and 1854 according to the raw counter.  That's a lot more than it had three years ago, when it was the fifth most read entry of the first year of the blog with 361 page views according to the default counter (I didn't look at the raw counter back then).  With it gone, the entire top ten of the first year has been replaced.

With that, this series is DONE!

Previous entries in this series.
