Newsy and WOOD-TV on Memorial Day

For today's patriotic holiday, I'm going to be as serious as I was last year but without the Presidents.  I begin with Newsy's history lesson What is Memorial Day all about?

It started as Decoration Day after the Civil War and officially became a national holiday in 1971.
Speaking of national cemeteries, Michigan has two, the older of which is Fort Custer National Cemetery (yes, that Custer; he's from Monroe, Michigan).  WOOD-TV brought its viewers and YouTube channel subscribers the highlights of yesterday's Fort Custer National Cemetery Memorial Day ceremony.

Video of the Memorial Day ceremony held at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek on May 28, 2017.
As I wrote last year, "Remember the serious reason for the holiday before lighting the grill."
