Drinking game, drinks, and memes for the 2020 Vice-Presidential debate

I begin by recycling the version of the drinking game I posted on Coffee Party USA's blog as Coffee Party USA celebrates National Coffee Day with a drinking game for the 2020 Presidential Debates.

Enter: our entirely bipartisan drinking game. It includes items that happen again and again in debates and are often super cringey. Yes, the candidates are all fighting to talk, but do they have to bicker like that? And must they recount so many long, open-ended, irrelevant stories from their youths!? You get it.

Again, we kept this game extremely bipartisan, but if you'd like to add some items for things that really grate you—like Senator X's habit of gesticulating wildly or Congresswoman Y's tendency to bring the discussion back to the old days—that's your prerogative. It's your living room! Drink up!

Drink when a candidate:

Gets cut off
Raises their hand
Invokes a folksy phrase
Insults the opposite party
Speaks over someone
Rolls their eyes
Loses their train of thought
Says “when I’m President”

Finish your drink when a candidate:

Laughs at someone else onstage
Goes deep on taxes
Is grilled by a moderator
Mentions their opponent’s past

Take a shot when a candidate:

Speaks another language
References their childhood

This should be generic enough for anyone reading who is watching the debate. In fact, it's generic enough that it can be used for any political debate this season, regardless of office, from President down to county commission or even city council if it has partisan candidates. I'm an environmentalist, so I like to reuse and recycle. I also like to reduce, so I'm not proposing another drinking game, at least not today.

New ideological position graphs and drinks for Kamala Harris, the Democrats' Vice Presidential nominee

I opened Mike Pence at Voteview and On The Issues for National Veep Day with a whine.

I concluded last night's Sandy Hook Promise's 'Back-To-School Essentials' and P&G's 'The Look' among Emmy nominees for Outstanding Commercial with my hope and dread for today.

[S]tay tuned for a celebration of National Veep Day. With luck, Joe Biden announces his running mate. Otherwise, I am stuck writing about Mike Pence. I hope not.

It's almost noon on Sunday and Joe Biden still has not announced his pick. If he were going to do so today, he'd likely have done it by now to make the Sunday Morning talk shows. So, Mike Pence it is.

While that post was surprisingly successful, earning 382 default and 406 raw page views to rank 16th for August 2020, it wasn't what I wanted to write that day. Now that Joe Biden selected Kamala Harris and she was nominated at the Democratic Convention, it's time to compose the the entry I wanted to post on Veep Day. Better late than never!


Ever since I made the first infographic meme for Harris using her On The Issues page, she has had to share them, first with Biden in OnTheIssues.org's take on the Democratic presidential candidates from left to center and then with Val Demings in On The Issues' take on Democratic Vice-Presidential contenders from left to center. Now that she's the Democratic Vice Presidential nominee, she finally gets an image to herself. As I first wrote last December, Harris left the campaign with an economic score of 10 and a social score of 73 and she re-entered the campaign with the same scores.


I'm being a good environmentalist and recycling the infographic I first created for Harris in Senators and Representatives running for the Democratic nomination are drifting to the left as they campaign in July 2019. While she has drifted both left and right since then, she has maintained an ideological score of -0.709 throughout August. It helps that the Senate has been in recess all month.

Happy Small Business Saturday!  I'm observing today in two parts.

First, I'm following up on 'Shop Small' on Small Business Saturday 2016, when I wished that "I hope Trump finds someone at least half as competent to take her position.  As competent?  Sorry, I'm too realistic."  Trump managed to meet my expectations by appointing Linda McMahon, former President and CEO of the WWE and two-time Republican nominee for U.S. Senate as Director of the Small Business Adminstration.  Here she is, delivering the Small Business Saturday PSA 2017.


Second, I'm examining a very thin slice of the "Eat local" part of today by looking at Michigan's best local pizza.  I begin with MLive's Top 5 Pizzas in Michigan.

Drinks for the Democratic debates: Bernie Sanders

I told my readers to "stay tuned for more" at the end of Drinks for the Democratic debates: Hillary Clinton as "I've already found a Vice President cocktail recipe for Biden."  I'll get to that, but since he's (so far) not in the debate, I'll save him for later.  Instead, I'm "feeling the Bern" and presenting the drink suggestions for Bernie Sanders.

A celebration of Krazy Jim's through television

I mourned in Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burgers closed today, but I was just saying so long for now, not good-bye forever.  In that hopeful spirit, I'm posting videos from television shows that celebrate the restaurant in its full operational glory beginning with Food Network's official clip of Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger's segment on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

Damn!!! I caught a glimpse of this section of one of the episodes this weekend and was stunned by how good those burgers looked with all the meat...and cheese...and toppings! Good lord it made me want to kill a cow right then and there! Haha. Anyway, I only bothered uploading the first part of this visit and not the second because it was irrelevant; I wasn't going bother showing two people gorge themselves on copious amounts of beef just to satisfy some deranged, warped sense of pride.

Now, that's Krazy Jim's as I remember it!

Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives wasn't the only TV show to cover Krazy Jim's.  Travel Channel's Man vs. Food also had a segment on Krazy Jim's.  It begins just under two minutes into Man v Food Ann Arbor, MI part 1.


I also know the other two places in the clip, Tio's and Maze and Blue, although I actually ate a lot at Maze and Blue.  I just walked past Tio's.  The clip does a good job of capturing both Maze and Blue and Krazy Jim's as I remember them, although I think the part on Krazy Jim's is more fun.
