For today's Sunday entertainment feature, I'm catching up with the winners of the News & Documentary Emmy Awards, beginning with Grammy nominee 'Little Richard: I Am Everything' among Emmy nominees for Outstanding Arts and Culture Documentary, where I wrote "I'm declaring Little Richard: I Am Everything the favorite." It won.

Follow over the jump for the winners I covered in 'Human Footprint' and other Emmy-nominated science and technology documentaries for Earth Overshoot Day and 'Incredible Animal Journeys' leads Outstanding Nature Documentaries at the News & Doc Emmy Awards for International Tiger Day.
I wrote the following about Science Fair: The Series.
Science Fair the movie documentary won this category in 2019 and its directors Cristina Costantini and Darren Foster tied with Minding the Gap's Bing Liu for Best First Time Director at the 2018 Critics Choice Documentary Awards, which I find auspicious. It helps that this looks like the most fun nominee. Good, it needs any advantage it can get in this field, especially against Encounters.I got my wish, even if I didn't predict it; it won.
As I wrote about Encounters, "I don't think many, if any, scientists among this group of Emmy voters will vote for it. I'm sure they'll pick another nominee, but if they don't consolidate on one nominee, they'll split their votes, and there aren't enough of them to beat out the documentarians and journalists." The scientists and others consolidated around Science Fair: The Series. Congratulations to them as well as the creators of the winning series on a win for science! The #DocEmmys Award for Outstanding Science and Technology Documentary goes to Science Fair: The Series (@natgeo). pic.twitter.com/QgN7vKE9OL

I also had a feeling about Path of the Panther.
No tigers, but still big cats, even if they're on the small cat side of the family. Based on the trailer, this looks like the best bet to upset Incredible Animal Journeys. Either way, National Geographic would win.Path of the Panther and National Geographic won.

Incredible Animal Journeys didn't walk away empty-handed, upsetting my picks for co-favorites, The Legacy of J. Dilla and Freedom on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom for Outstanding Sound: Documentary. I'm O.K. with that.
