I closed 23andMe files for bankruptcy, fueling privacy concerns by telling my readers "stay tuned for the first retrospective of the 14th year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News, stats." Here goes!
As of 11:59 PM EDT March 20, 2025, this blog had a lifetime total of 5,222,122 page views, 6,168 total posts, and 4180 comments. Minus the 4,463,208 page views, 5,798 total posts, and 4,057 comments as of just before March 21, 2024, that means this blog earned 758,914 page views and 123 published comments on 370 posts during the 365 days of the 14th year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News. My calculated page views are close to the ~757,000 page views and 133 comments Blogger's counter showed during the past twelve months. That was closer than last year, but not exact. I think that's because Blogger counts whole days, which started at 8:00 P.M. March 21, 2024, but my count starts 20 hours earlier. Blogger lost all of those ~1,900 page views from those 20 hours. I tested this hypothesis by multiplying the next day's 2,290 page views by 0.833 (20/24) and got 1,908. Close enough. I can't completely account for the ten extra comments. I deleted six and there were eight comments during the first three weeks of March 2024 that Blogger might have counted, but neither add up, literally. Maybe I'll figure it out next year.
Last year's trend of increasing page views continued. Not only did this past year's 758,914 page views on 370 posts during 365 days beat the year before's 641,234 page views on 380 posts during 366 days, it beat the year before that's 419,300 page views on 379 posts during 365 days. That means I'm working less hard for more page views, as the blog earned 2,051.12 page views per post and 2,079.22 page views per day during the blog year just ended. Both are more than the 1,687.46 page views per post and 1,752.01 page views per day the blog earned between March 21, 2023 and March 20, 2024 and a lot more than the 1,106.33 page views per post and 1,148.77 page views per day between March 21, 2022 and March 20, 2023. May the trend continue during this year just started.
While the published comments increased from 78 to 123, the raw number, including never released spam decreased from 199 to either 154 or 133. Still, the number of published comments increased to 123, just edging out the 122 of two years ago. Just the same, I'm getting less spam and more published comments. Since I don't have comment goals, I'm not concerned. I'd prefer fewer quality comments than a lot of spam.
As for my commenters who aren't spammers, I'd like to thank them, beginning with continuing commenters Infidel753, Nebris, the first commenter on my blog, Friend of the Court, and Steve in Manhattan. I also want to welcome back Paul W., who didn't comment last year. Keep up the good work! I also want to thank John R. Christiansen, E.A. Blair, and Steven C. Di Pietro for making their first posts here. Stick around! Unfortunately, I seem to have lost longtime commenter Narb Xorbian, the best man at my first wedding. In addition, last year's first-time commenters H-bob, tronvillain, August Johnson, Noah, Marc McKenzie, Realityhold, and my student Ecogranite didn't return. Come back, I miss you!
Follow over the jump for the rest of the analysis.

The top three referring sites remained the same as last year. All variations of Facebook contributed 20,042 page views, which is less than last year's 28,702, and even less than 47,847 the year before. I attribute the bulk of those from promoting my posts at the Coffee Party USA Facebook page and the Crazy Eddie's Motie News page (if you're on Facebook, please like the page!). Google search provided 7,998, slightly more than last year's 7,655 page views, ending four consecutive years of decline. Infidel753 remained in third with 2,293 people coming here from his blog. This was an increase from last year's 1,767, which was an increase from the previous year's 1,443. Thanks, Infidel, for linking to me in your Sunday, now Saturday, blog roundups and maintaining the blog on your blogroll! Crooks and Liars rose from sixth to fourth with 1,902, an increase from the previous year's 1,074 referrals and the year before's ninth with 600 click-throughs, nearly doubling each year. Thanks to Tengrain, Driftglass, and Steve in Manhattan for linking to my blog! No More Mister Nice Blog remained in fifth, referring 1,807 readers, an increase from last year's 1,608 page views — all that from Steve M. keeping my blog on his blogroll. Thanks, Steve! X, the site formerly known as Twitter, fell from fourth to sixth with 1,455, a fourth consecutive year of decline from last year's 1,748 page referrals and the previous year's 2,172, and the year before that's 3,327 link clicks. Blogger search inside Crazy Eddie's Motie News provided 667 page views, rebounding from last year's 208 and enough to raise its ranking from tenth to seventh. Pinterest remained in eighth again with 168 referrals, although both yielded fewer page views than the year before at 410. Yandex also remained in its spot, ninth with 161, less than last year's 222 page views. I wrote last year that "I'm looking forward to Threads being a significant source of readers in the future." It's getting there, as its contribution increased from 30 to 47, enough for it to place tenth. Vagabond Scholar came in eleventh with 35 referrals because I submitted John Oliver examines Clarence Thomas and makes him an offer on 'Last Week Tonight' to Jon Swift Roundup 2024, "The Best Posts of the Year, Chosen by the Bloggers Themselves." Finally, Bing fell from seventh to twelfth with 27 referrals, quite a drop from last year's 445!
Last year's top search terms look very different from previous years, apparently because Blogger seems to be tracking only search terms used within Blogger, not search terms from other search engines/browsers. Consequently, the only term that repeated from last year was "Reacher assistir" with ten. Last year, that ranked it ninth. This year, it was good for first. "To Return" came in second with eight. Three terms tied for third with seven, "beautiful wedding," "Black Friday," and "todos quieren con Marilyn." "The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power" ranked sixth with six. Two terms tied for seventh with five, "El Joe Serie en streaming" and "The Encounter." Two terms tied for ninth with four, "Venom The Last Dance" and "Another country song." Honorable mention goes to "The Mark" with three. A lot of these terms have "assistir," "ver," and "temporada" attached to them, so it seems a lot of people speaking Portuguese and Spanish are searching my blog for mentions of movies and TV shows. Looks like my entertainment blogging is serving an audience I hadn't even realized existed.

Finally, it's time to review the top countries providing readers to my blog. I begin with the annual statistics.
The United States returned to number one with 209,277 page views after being second last year with 192,261. Hong Kong passed Singapore for second with 195,204 to rank second, a ten-fold increase from last year's ~19,700. Singapore slipped from last year's second with 334,804 page views to third with 138,367. Thanks to them, I was able to pass my page view goals. Brazil rocketed from completely outside the top twenty to rank fourth with 46,401. That's quite the return from 2021-2022, the eleventh year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News, when it ranked seventeenth with 4,523 page views, then fell out of the top twenty between 2022 and 2024. Canada remained in fifth with 16,468, nearly double last year's 8699. Germany slipped from fourth to sixth despite increasing its contribution from 12,925 to 13,366. Austria entered the top twenty at seventh with 8,105. This is the first time Austria has appeared in the stats. France remained in eighth with 7,891, an increase over last year's 5,434. After falling out of the top twenty last year, China returned at ninth with 4,752. The United Kingdom sank from seventh to tenth with 3,156, rounding out the top ten.
Russia rose from 16th to eleventh with 3,075, nearly quadruple last year's 794. Mexico returned to the top twenty for the first time since 2020 with 2,177 at twelfth. India inched up from 15th to 13th with 2,095, more than double last year's 882. Türkiye returned to the top twenty after dropping out in 2023, when I listed it as Turkey, at 14th with 1,739. Israel dropped from eleventh to fifteenth with 1,719. The rest of the top twenty bears no resemblance to last year's, as Argentina entered at 16th with 1,575, Morocco at 17th with 1,537, Belgium at 18th with 1,519, Uzbekistan at 19th with 1,361, and Venezuela at 20th with 623. All of these appear new to the top twenty except Belgium, which returned after dropping out last year.
The Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Ukraine, Ireland, Indonesia, Taiwan, Italy, The Bahamas, and Iran all fell out of the top twenty to become part of the mass of other countries that combined for Other's 96,553 page views. Maybe I'll see some of these countries in next year's statistics.

Now for the all-time readership numbers by country. The United States has contributed 2,926,227 page views to remain number one all-time. Singapore stayed at second all-time with 477,568 total page views. Thanks for sticking around! France remain at third with 333,692 total page views. Hong Kong hopped from twelfth to fourth with 239,750 total page views. Sweden slipped to fifth with 136,650. Canada cascaded to sixth with 135,005. Germany slid to seventh with 128,079 total page views but remained ahead of Russia, which rapelled to eighth with 111,707 with 24,616. The United Kingdom dropped a notch to ninth with 64,750. Brazil returned at tenth with 50,861 after dropping out last year. Italy inched down to eleventh place with 36,313, losing three page views from 36,316. Ukraine tumbled to twelfth at 32,816, losing three page views from 32,819. The Netherlands dropped to thirteenth with 24,549. China climbed over Unknown Region at fourteenth among actual countries with page views increasing slightly from 13,647 to 18,249. Unknown Region remained at 16,786, which is identical to last year. Unknown Region is still not being credited with any more page views. Good.
Australia fell to fifteenth among actual countries as it lost page views from last year's 11,475 to 11,473. At this rate it will never pass China. Austria entered the all-time top twenty at sixteenth with 8,126. United Arab Emirates dropped a spot to seventeenth with 7,466. Indonesia and Japan both dropped, Indonesia to eighteenth with 6,550 and Japan to nineteenth with 5,961. Poland and Finland fell out of the top twenty to become part of the mass of other countries that combined for Other's 449,541 page views from all the other countries of the world with readers of my blog over the past fourteen years.
Stay tuned for another retrospective In the meantime, here is Wednesday Addams, the mascot for Wayback Wednesday.
