Stephen Colbert goes LIVE following the eighth televised hearing of the January 6th Committee, which focused on the former president's inaction as the insurrection took place, and featured footage of Sen. Josh Hawley fleeing the violence. My wife and I watched the hearing live last night and that's as good a highlight reel with comedic commentary as I could imagine. Speaking of commentary, Stephen's main guest last night was Chris Hayes, who provided a lot of expert observations on the proceeding. Follow over the jump to watch.
The interview began with Hayes calling the broadcast "Remarkably Compelling" - Chris Hayes On The Eighth Televised Jan 6th Hearing.
The host of "All In with Chris Hayes" on MSNBC joins us for #LateShowLIVE to help Stephen break down the revelations from the eighth televised hearing of the Jan. 6th Committee. The two scariest things are how the mob scared the Secret Service so much that they feared for their lives and that TFG is still trying to get people to accept his delusion that he won. Hayes also pointed out the strategy of using Republican witnesses to convince persuadable Republicans in the audience of what TFG did. Hayes will return to this in part three.
In part two, Hayes said This Is "The Committee Telling Josh Hawley To Go F Himself" - Chris Hayes.
In part two of his conversation with Stephen, Chris Hayes examines why the Jan. 6th Committee showed footage of Senator Josh Hawley fleeing the scene of the violence during the insurrection in the U.S. Capitol. Stick around for more with the host of MSNBC's "All In with Chris Hayes."It looks like Hawley has no friends on the committee. It also looks like Kevin McCarthy has no friends on the stage, both of which are fine with me.
The interview concluded with “His Political Power…Is Actually Waning” - Chris Hayes On T**** And The Impact Of The Hearings.
Chris Hayes wraps up his appearance on #LateShowLIVE with an analysis of the impact the Jan. 6th Committee hearings are having on the former president's political power. Catch Chris Hayes weeknights on MSNBC!It seems that the members of the committee agree that TFG should never be allowed near political office again. In Liz Cheney's case, she'd like her pre-2015 Republican Party back. I doubt she'll get it any time soon, so she'll settle for damaging TFG instead. I wish her luck.
I close with the episode's cold open, It's The Final Hearing.
It's been a long journey but we've made it: the final hearing.Yep, they spoke too soon. I'm already looking forward to the next hearing in September.
