The 2024 Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band & Herald Trumpets performing their musical selections at the 43rd Annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses Bandfest on Friday, December 29, 2023.Two tunes stood out to me, "Fantasmic" and "Ancient & Honorable Artillery Company," the former because it works really well for PCC and the latter because it quotes "Auld Lang Syne," perfect for New Years Day.
Follow over the jump for the rest of the bands I'm sharing today.*
Continuing with California bands, the Santiago High School Sharks Marching Band - 2024 Pasadena Bandfest are next.

The BOSS will make their third appearance in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade on Monday, January 1, 2024. Their last appearance was in 2018 and 2013 before that. Congratulations!!That was a great selection of songs for an old Boomer like me to listen to.
The theme of last year's post was "marching bands from around the world," and I'm returning to it to share Banda Municipal de Zarcero: Costa Rica - 2024 Pasadena Bandfest.

The 2024 Los Angeles Unified School Beyond the Bell All-District High School Honor Band performing their musical selections at the 43rd Annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses Bandfest at Pasadena City College on Saturday, December 30, 2023.I always appreciate the band's energy and I think their auxilliaries were great this year. Also, LAUSD's songs were as currentas Santiago's selections were classic, as they played "I Ain't Worried" by OneRepublic from Top Gun: Maverick and "Dance The Night" by Dua Lipa from Barbie.
Now for a band that came in sixth at BOA Grand Nationals last year, William Mason HS Marching Band - 2024 Pasadena Bandfest.
William Mason High School Marching Band performing their musical selections at the 43rd Annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses Bandfest on Friday, December 29, 2023. Their last appearance in the Rose Parade was in 2016.I'm impressed that they managed to go to both BOA Grand Nationals and the Rose Parade in the same season. It's hard enough for a band to do one!
I regretted not including The Norfolk State University Spartan Legion in last year's post, sharing them on MLK Day. I'm not making that same mistake twice, so here is North Carolina A&T "Blue & Gold Marching Machine" - 2024 Pasadena Bandfest.
The North Carolina A&T State University "Blue & Gold Marching Machine" performing their incredible show at the 43rd Annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses Bandfest on Saturday, December 30, 2023.I might share their parade performance on MLK Day, if I'm feeling up to it.
One of the schools playing in the Rose Parade is the University of Alabama. They didn't show up to Bandfest, but another Alabama band did, Albertville High School Aggie Band - 2024 Pasadena Bandfest.

For an encore, I'm closing this post like last year's with a Disneyland performance, this time of my graduate alma mater, Michigan Marching Band - Disneyland Town Square - 12.31.2023.
The University of Michigan Marching Band performing at Disneyland's Town Square as the football team gets ready to play at the 110th Pasadena Rose Bowl Game against The University of Alabama on Monday, January 1, 2024.Go Blue!
ETA: Luis of Music213 left blank time stamps for the songs, so I provided them in a comment.
All the other Michigan fans are too busy typing "Go Blue!" to help you with the songs, so I'm stepping up.

*I plan on posting my marching music for presidential primaries series this year, so I'm saving some of the bands' performances for those. In particular, watch for Castle H.S. (Indiana), Jenks H.S. (Oklahoma), and the Hawaii All-State Marching Band, as those states are short of competitive drum corps, which are my first choices for those entries. Also, if there are any of your favorite bands that I missed here, I might share them as part of that series, too.
Happy New Year and Happy National Science Fiction Day! Thanks to Steve in Manhattan for linking to this entry in Mike's Blog Roundup at Crooks and Liars and welcome to all of you for clicking on his link! Also, welcome to my international readers from Canada, South Korea, and the rest of the planet! I appreciate all of you, especially my Canadian and German readers, who have provided more than 200 page views each this past week!
