My favorite bands in the 2022 Rose Parade for New Year's Day

Happy New Year! For 2022, I'm returning to a featuring my favorite bands in the Rose Parade, courtesy of Luis at Music213. I begin with the official band of the Rose Parade, 2022 PCC Tournament of Roses Honor Band & Herald Trumpets (Day 1) - 2022 Pasadena Bandfest.

May everything come up roses for my readers!

Next, the band from the school I am cheering for in the Rose Bowl, University of Utah Marching Utes - 2022 Pasadena Bandfest.

Go, Utes!

Now for the high school bands, beginning with one that probably has been in more Rose Parades than any other southern California high school, Arcadia High School Apache Marching Band - Disneyland December 2021.

This was a drier performance than at Bandfest and more representative of what people will see later today, so I'm using this instead.

Follow over the jump for the rest of the bands I'm featuring today.

Next, another southern California unit, Mira Mesa High School Sapphire Sound - 2022 Pasadena Bandfest.

Moving on to bands from other states, here is Hebron High School Marching Band - 2022 Pasadena Bandfest from Carrollton, Texas.

It's a shame that the rain made them decide to do a standstill. The drill and props for this show are phenomenal!

That didn't stop the next two bands. Illinois' O'Fallon High School Marching Panthers - 2022 Pasadena Bandfest brought out their pit and props and performed their full show.

I had no idea a talented arranger could squeeze so much out of A-ha's "Take on Me" and keep it musically interesting.

The weather didn't stop Tennessee State University Aristocrat of Bands - 2022 Pasadena Bandfest, either.

That was fun!

There are lots more bands, but the parade starts in a few minutes and TSU's band is a good one to stop this preview. I'll have all of them on March 4th, Marching Music Day. Stay tuned and, once again, happy New Year!
