Best Actor in a Leading Role 'Oppenheimer' winner Cillian Murphy speaking to acclaimed press moments after Oscar win.Not only is Murphy a proud Irishman, the Irish are proud of him, as evidenced by the first and last questions from Irish media. This includes Irish-American me. Congratulations to Murphy, Christopher Nolan, Robert Downey, Jr., and all the behind-the-scenes winners of Oscars for Oppenheimer!
Follow over the jump for three Irish-American Oscar winners in two categories.
I resume with "What Was I Made For?" Wins Best Original Song from 'Barbie' by Billie Eilish & Finneas O'Connell.
Billie Eilish & Finneas O'Connell win Best Original Song for "What Was I Made For?" from 'Barbie' at the 96th Oscars (2024).That was as fun in a different way as the Grammy acceptance speech I embedded in Grammys, other awards, and Oscar nominations for 'Barbie' on Barbie Day. It's also a good preview of the leads in Wicked as the presenters.
The siblings continued in Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell | Best Original Song | Oscars 2024 Press Room Speech.
Best Original Song "What Was I Made For?" (from 'Barbie') winners Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell speaking to acclaimed press moments after Oscar win.In addition to Murphy being the first Irish-born man to win Best Actor, Eilish is the youngest person to win two Oscars. Congratulations!
The last Irish-American Oscar winner I'm honoring today is Dave Mullins in 'War Is Over! Inspired By The Music Of John & Yoko' Wins Best Animated Short | 96th Oscars (2024).
Dave Mullins and Brad Booker win the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film for 'WAR IS OVER! INSPIRED BY THE MUSIC OF JOHN & YOKO'Check out the stars of Furiosa, a Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, presenting. Between these two and the stars of Wicked, the Motion Picture Academy and ABC are not missing any opportunity to promote their upcoming releases — except for Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, stars of Deadpool & Wolverine. Maybe the Academy and Disney didn't think the movie needed them as presenters. *Shrug*
Enough about the stars presenting the awards. Back to the winners themselves in Best Animated Short Film | 'War is Over!' Dave Mullins & Brad Booker | Oscars 2024 Press Room Speech.
Best Animated Short Film 'War is Over!' Winners Dave Mullins & Brad Booker speaking to acclaimed press moments after Oscar win. That was a good question about the other nominees and an even better answer. Also, a belated happy Mothers Day to my readers in the United Kingdom!
Now to do for the Gold Derby predictions I included in Grammys, other awards, and Oscar nominations for 'Barbie' on Barbie Day that I did last year in 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' earns seven Academy Awards at a history-making ceremony, see how they fared.

Score 20 out of 23 or 87%. Better than last year, but that's because I was grading my predictions based on Gold Derby's, not Gold Derby's directly, and I gave half credit for the second choice winning. Still, it's enough to convince me to keep using the site's editors and experts.
I'm being a good environmentalist by recycling my closing from the Barbie Day post.
Looks like Barbie is guaranteed to win only one Oscar for Best Song, while it has outside chances of winning Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. Sigh. That's sad, and enough to make me close by sharing the...Oscar winner and a song that always makes me cry...Watch "What Was I Made For?" Performed by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell | 96th Oscars Performance.
"What Was I Made For?" from BarbieIt made me cry this time, too. What about my readers — did you cry, too?
