In pursuit of the $75,000 grand prize in the For Whom The Bell Tolls Metallica Marching Band Competition, the Bulldog Marching Band turns it up to 11 with the music of Metallica! The Sound of West Texas is under the direction of Dr. BJ Brooks and Dr. Guglielmo Manfredi. Formed in 1981 the heavy metal band, Metallica, quickly became known for their signature fast tempos, instrumentals, and aggressive musicianship. The WT Marching band's program includes The Unforgiven, Hit the Lights, Seek and Destroy, Lux AEterna, Wherever I May Roam, Fade to Black, Enter Sandman, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Creeping Death, and Master of Puppets. Directed by drum majors Tobin Brooks, Aaron Hinds, and Dylan Martin and assisted by conductors Spencer Owens, Jack Montgomery, and Seth Meason the Sound of West Texas invites to you to enjoy our 2023 WT marching band production of METAL.Texas has some spectacular junior colleges, like Navarro College, featured in Cheer. Another is Blinn College, which entered Metallica Marching Band into the contest.
The co-winner of the medium high school division in the contest was Boerne High School Band - For Whom the Band Tolls Entry.

I couldn't find a video on YouTube of Edinburg H.S. performing their Metallica show, so off to Minnesota for the final drum corps of the night, God I wish this was The Govenaires at DCA Finals 2022.
Boy do I wish this was the Govies preforming their show "Back on the bus," A show about Drum Corps being back after the pandemic...I can relate to the opening singer. It's great to be back on the road again!
