The summer solstice is on Thursday, June 20 this year, marking the official start of summer. This is the earliest one within nearly 300 years.I knew about astronomical summer, which begins today, meterological summer, which began June 1st, and the unofficial beginning of summer on Memorial Day, which I call the beginning of American cultural summer, but I hadn't heard of solar summer before. That means I learned something new today and it's always a good day when I learn something new.
