Dana Carvey's impressions of Joe Biden for Presidential Joke Day

Happy Presidential Joke Day! For this year's celebration, I'm roasting President Joe Biden and outsourcing the jokes to Dana Carvey. I begin with President Biden Previews His Summit With Vladimir Putin from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

President Joe Biden, who bears an uncanny resemblance to our good friend Dana Carvey, joins Stephen via satellite from Europe where he is deep in preparation for this week's face-to-face meeting with the Russian leader.
In case this looks and sounds familiar, it's the segment after the monologue I featured in Stephen Colbert returns to the Ed Sullivan Theater before a live, fully vaccinated audience, a pandemic update. Also, I like Carvey's impression of Biden better than Jim Carrey's. Carrey is hysterically funny, but I think he's a little too high energy for Biden unless he's driving an electric Jeep. Carvey captures more of Biden than Carrey, who relies too much on his own characters like Ace Ventura.

While explaining a joke usually drains the humor out of it, Carvey describing how he captured the essence of Biden made his impression even funnier in Dana Carvey Impersonates Joe Biden & Barack Obama - CONAN on TBS.

Plus, a little bit of Arnold Schwarzenegger for good measure.

Ha, ha, ha, ha! After yesterday's scary climate news, I needed a good laugh or two. Also, this clip shows that "Conan" may actually deserve its nomination for Outstanding Variety Talk Series at the Emmy Awards, although I'm still not sure "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee" deserved its snub. Just the same, happy National Presidential Joke Day!
