Candy corn pizza for Candy Corn Day

Happy National Candy Corn Day!
National Candy Corn Day is observed annually on October 30th.

Candy Corn was created by George Renninger of Wunderle Candy Company in the late 1800s. He created this sweet treat to represent the bright colors of corn kernels.   Originally, Candy Corn was yellow, orange and white, but it has become popular in other colors as well.

This confection was originally made by hand using corn syrup, sugar, water, marshmallows, fondant and carnauba wax (a wax made from the leaves of a palm tree), but it is now produced using machines.  The original ingredients are still used in the recipe.
The biggest candy corn trend going on this year is Candy Corn Pizza.  Based on the following two videos, I think it's something of a troll.  Just watch We Tried The Candy Corn Pizza Trend from BuzzFeed Video to see why I think so.

Based on a viral tweet, we decided to taste test the candy corn pizza (literally a pizza topped with candy corn and then cooked).
"Candy Corn Pizza -- it's not as bad as you think" sums up the positive reactions by the candy corn lovers.  At least it didn't make them hate candy corn.

I don't know if the same can be said about the celebrities in Giada, Al Roker And Curtis Stone Try Candy Corn Pizza So You Don't Have To from The Today Show.

Celebrity chefs and our very own Al Roker taste test a pizza with candy corn melted on top – and their reactions are hilarious.
Giada and Al said worse things about it than the candy corn haters BuzzFeed rounded up and Curtis Stone wasn't far behind.

Follow over the jump for candy corn pizzas one can actually eat.

So real candy corn pizza turned out to be a joke in bad taste -- literally.  What about candy-corn-themed pizzas that aren't?  For a savory pizza that looks like candy corn, Rosanna Pansino presents CANDY CORN THEMED PIZZA w/ my Dad!

Today I made a Candy Corn Themed Pizza from scratch with my Dad! Let me know down below what other types of videos you'd like to see.

This fun candy corn dessert pizza made with sugar cookies is the perfect Halloween party recipe!
Note, no actual candy corn is used.

Finally, no Halloween food-and-drink-themed post would be complete without something from Tipsy Bartender.  Here's Candy Corn Jello Treats.

Prepare orange layer next, as above, and gently pour over yellow layer once hardened. Place in refrigerator again. 5. For white layer, combine hot water and plain gelatin. Stir well until combined before adding in condensed milk. Leave to cool. 6. Once cool, add coconut rum and layer on top of orange jello. Place in refrigerator one last time. 7. Once all layers are completely set, use a sharp knife to cut the orange into quarters and serve. Enjoy responsibly!
I'm not 100% sure what I'll post tomorrow, but if I don't post more Tipsy Bartender recipes, at least I won't have completely abandoned the tradition I've had of posting Halloween drinks from Tipsy Bartender, which I began in 2014 and continued through 2015 and 2016.

  2. Hey Pinku, I've actually been to your blog before through Infidel links and liked what I read. I been blogging since 2008, I dont comment as much as i used to, and have very little online contact, besides reading and viewing vidz or whatever. I dont even post as much, simply got a little burned out, so I chill more. My comments are too long, since I'm kind of handicapped when it comes to writing, not being able to say what I say in few words ... even my blog postings are way too long. Many folks dont like to read lengthy postings or whatever, many like short tweets and stuff. So my blog isnt to try to attract a bunch of readership or get what they call views or hits ... it's just a personal journal, and to try to be informative in so ... I have no writing background or related.

No, I didnt know anything about national candy corn day or whatever. I loved candy corn as a kid, havent ate it in decades that I recall. But, I would try out a bite or 2 if given the opportunity of candy corn pizza I guess, just for the experience and taste test, couldnt be much worse than some of the shit I ate throughout life, heh, heh, heh, heh, heh {:-) I'll be 62 in january, so I'm more careful of what I eat these dayz, than when I was a kid. Have a good Halloween Pinku.

    1. Hi, Ranch Chimp! Glad to see you return here. I'm also glad you enjoy my blog. As for not being able to write a short reply, it reminds me of the quote attributed to Samuel Clemens: "Forgive me for writing such a long letter. I didn't have time to make it short."

As for National Candy Corn Day, it's something I picked up from National Day Calendar. That site has made my blogger more fun and easy, although at the expense of being more superficial. However, it does work for attracting readers.

As for candy corn, it was my favorite candy when I was younger, but I can't eat it now. I was diagnosed as a Type I diabetic two months ago and I have to avoid food and drink high in sugar.

Thanks and have a good Halloween, too!

  3. Eurghhh..... The things people do with food..... Well, I'm determined so say something nice, so -- It's not as nauseating to think about as the snail hemolymph thing. Personally I'm OK with both candy corn and pizza, though not a really huge fan of either. But some things definitely don't belong together.

    1. Well, that's damming with faint praise. Then again, I agree with you. The two should be kept apart from each other.
