Monthly meta: page views and posts for March 2015 and goals for April 2015

The month is already several days old, so it's time for me to recap the ten most viewed entries of the previous month that I've already posted at this blog's Facebook page, as well as to examine any of the rest of March's stats worth repeating.

Like February, March was a good month for recent entries, with six of the ten most read posted during the month.  In addition, it was the March with the most page views in the history of the blog, 13,194, enough for the second highest number of page views of any month behind only December 2014 with 13,251.  All this happened with 43 entries for an average of 306.84 page views per post.  This is an improvement over the average of 276.28 page views per post during the fourth year of this blog.  In addition, it was well over the 12,376 page views for March 2014 as well as the minimum goal of 400 page view per day for a total of 12,400 I set for the month.  Instead, the blog earned 425.61 page views per day.  I'm encouraged already that I'm on the path to be up year-over-year I set myself on in Monthly meta: 400,000 page views.

To celebrate this successful month, I present the ten most read entries of the month, beginning with "Saint Patrick's Day drinks from Tipsy Bartender for 2015," which earned 109 page views from social media promotion and web search, good enough for number ten overall as well as the sixth most read among entries posted during March.

Follow over the jump for the rest of last month's top ten, plus my goals for April.

The ninth most read entry of the month was "Guide to entries that contain answers to 'The End of Suburbia'" with 124 page views.  It earned nearly all of them from being promoted at Kunstler's blog.  The rest came from being the featured entry in "Comments and likes for the fourth year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News" and web search.

"Time for a Scott Walker label" was the eighth most read entry of March and the fifth most read out of six posted during the past month to make the top ten most read.  It earned its 128 page views by being promoted at Kunstler's blog and Daily Kos.

The seventh most read overall and the fourth most read among entries posted during March was "Fourth anniversary of Fukushima triple disaster."  I shared it at both Greer's and Kunstler's blogs, which earned it 132 page views.

The entries tied for the fifth most read entry of the past month.  One of them was also the sixth most read during February, the fourth most read during January, and the second most read entry of the past year.  "Game of Thrones D&D character alignment charts" earned 142 page views during March mostly from web search but also from being featured in "'Game of Thrones' for the fourth year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News."  It had 1479 page views total as of March 20, 2015, and currently has 1561.

"Agenda 21 paranoid Ted Cruz is officially running for President" ended the month tied for fifth with "Game of Thrones D&D character alignment charts" at 142 page views, good enough for third place among entries posted during March.  It received its page views after I shared it at Kunstler's blog.

The fourth most read entry during March has been in the top ten every month since it was posted last October.  It was also the third most popular of all entries from the past year.  "Corn questions from 'Food, Inc.' worksheet" earned 199 page views last month and 1245 total by March 20, 2015 and 1325 by the end of March according to the raw counter.  The entry is also on the all time top ten list at eighth place with 822 page views according to the default counter as of March 20th.  It earned most of its page views from web search with a little assistance from being featured in "Student worksheets for the fourth year of Crazy Eddie's Motie News."

I shared "Zombie real estate" at both Greer's and Kunstler's blogs.  Doing so helped it earn 206 page views during March, which placed it third on the most read list for the month and second among the entries actually posted during March.

I got help promoting "EsoterX on 21st Century monsters," as Infidel753 shared the link on their blog.  I also included the link in a comment at Greer's blog.  The result was 210 page views during March, good enough for second place for the month and the trophy for most read entry actually posted during March 2015.

I end this countdown where I stared it, with "Tipsy Bartender drinks for St. Patrick's Day."  The top post of March and the winner of the back catalog trophy was the recipient of lots of web search hits last month, earning this blast from the past, specifically last year, 241 page views.  The entry had 684 page views total as of March 20th and 689 as of the end of the month.  I will feature it in an upcoming retrospective about holidays as an honorary mention.

I conclude by sharing my goals for this month.  Last April, the blog earned 13,090 page views, the third best month in the history of the blog so far.  To be up year-over-year, I have to beat that.  My minimum goal is 437 page views per day for a total of 13,110 page views.  I'm going to attempt that while posting no more than 43 entries. Wish me luck.
