'Andor' earns a Hugo nomination for Revenge of the Sixth on Wayback Wednesday

Today's celebration of Revenge of the Sixth, the dark side of Star Wars Day, hearkens back to 'The Mehdi Hasan Show' examines the politics of ‘Andor’ for Revenge of the Sixth and 'Andor' vs. 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' and 'Severance' for Best Science Fiction Television Series at the Saturn Awards. Star Wars News on Instagram reported, "Andor Season 2 has been nominated for the 2026 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation – Long Form! It’s the only TV series nominated in a category that otherwise features only movies." Here are the rest of the nominees in this category.

Andor isn't likely to win, as it's not also nominated for the The Ray Bradbury Nebula Award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation. Instead, I think the three Hugo nominees also nominated for the equivalent Nebula Award, KPop Demon Hunters, Sinners, and Superman, are most likely to win. Of the three, I think Sinners is the favorite.

Andor can take some consolation from Andor wins the BAFTA for Special, Visual & Graphic Effects | BAFTA TV Craft Awards.

Congratulations!

Follow over the jump for the nominees for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form and Best Game or Interactive Work plus a retrospective of the top entertainment entries from the back catalog, excluding those about the Emmy Awards.

Again, I think the nominees also nominated for a Nebula Award, Murderbot, Pluribus, and Severance, have the inside track. My personal favorite is Pluribus, but three episodes of Murderbot earned enough votes to qualify for a nomination yet only two could be on the ballot, so the showrunners withdrew “Free Commerce” to abide by that restriction. The Hugo voters like Murderbot. Remember, electorates matter.

I'm recycling my reaction from 'The Last of Us' wins Best Adaptation at The Game Awards.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was the only game to win multiple awards at last week's ceremony, including Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score & Music (Lorien Testard), Best Performance (Jennifer English), Best Role Playing Game, Best Independent Game, and Best Debut Indie Game in addition to Game of the Year for a total of nine. This beats the last record holder, The Last of Us, Part II, which won seven awards in 2020. I am not surprised. I watched a lot of streamers play Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on Twitch this year and I thought it was Game of the Year material from the first time I saw it. I fully expect it to be nominated and win Best Game or Interactive Work at the Nebula and Hugo Awards next year.
And here it is. I think it's also the favorite to win. That written, it's not my personal favorite; that's Dispatch, which became the game I most enjoyed watching people play on Twitch. I told several streamers that I expected it would be nominated at both the Hugo and Nebula awards and it earned nominations at both. I also told some of them it was the best superhero story I saw in any media last year. It's certainly the most original. I know of no awards where it could compete against Superman or Peacemaker, but I still think so.

I plan on resuming my series on the News & Doc Emmy Awards tomorrow for Throwback Thursday. In the meantime, enjoy Wednesday Addams, the mascot for Wayback Wednesday.
